Going Tangent

Life is filled with circular activities. You go to bed, wake up, have a breakfast, do your job, stay glued to your mobile, go to sleep at night & this cycle repeats. With repeatition comes pattern & with pattern comes stagnation. You know what comes from stagnation ? Death. Yeah, you heard that right. Not necessarily the death of your body, but it's the death of your soul.

So what do you do then ?

Simple, You break free from your pattern. You leave your circle & start going along a tangent. It means you do something different. Something that surprises you, something that excites you & something that lits a candle in your dying soul.

Now please don't get me wrong. It can be your job too that excites you. May be you have an amazing time sitting in front of your computer & your mind just goes wild. May be you love talking to people & close a deal (The wolf of wallstreet vibe). That's incredible. But for most people, as I know, that's not the case.

For many its quite drastic. Something like going for a long bike ride, going for trekking, paragliding, hitting the gym, going to your nearest waterpark & even asking someone out for dinner. Anything that pushes you beyond your comfort is to be welcomed.

Who knows one day a miracle happens & your tangent lands you on an entirely different circle beyond your conceivable imagination.

By the way, Happy New Year in advance. You rock.

Who the hell is this guy posting random stuff ?

A Self-Introduction to Me : Some of you know me (through Facebook), most of you don't. Ofcourse because I am an introvert who likes to shut himself in a room than going out to meet people in real. So today, although it's been late, I will introduce myself (just in case, you are wondering where am I coming from).. My name is Jyoti-blah-blah-blah. I am an alumni of CET from the branch of Electrical Engineering. At my home, in Dhenkanal, my friends call me Chintu while my friends at CET call me RANGA BHAI (out of affection) & nobody calls me Jyotiranjan.  I got into this writing-thing in 2015 while using Facebook. The more I wrote the more I found things to write about & eventually enjoyed it more than engineering (yes, I must admit). Since then I have written on Facebook for 8 years till 2023 & still continuing this blog. I was born in the same year Titanic released in USA & Dil Toh Pagal Hai released in India. 1997. I hope you understand what I am trying to say ...

Sukua : The Boy behind an Innocent Scandal

He was like an animal from a different planet. Very fondly his parents named him "Sukua". He was 15 & was working as a helper at SAHU'S KITCHEN, a 3 star hotel. But you don't know him if you don't know about his beloved. Nothing makes him happier than the smell of his beloved, rum.   Every night, after work, he would keep pushing Sahu Mausa, the hotel owner, for a 100ml bottle of rum & as usual, mausa would come up with his regular response "Shut up ". But what bothers him most is when he catches Sahu Mausa passing a bottle to Bisu (his senior co-worker), every single night. But oneday, he got an idea.  After his job, he reached the hotel bunker & broke the news : " Fire. Fire. Hotel on fire ". Every other staff rushed outside only to discover that it was a prank pulled by Sukua. They returned to the bunker to make it even with Sukua, but he was sitting like a stone. Not a single word. Just a weird look on his face & eyes toward...

People-Killing Lightnings of Odisha

As a coastal state Odisha is blessed with a beach. But it has brought it's fair share of adversities too. It's most commonly known adversary being Cyclones, Lightnings have somehow stayed away from public discussion. Part of the reason is that lightnings don't impact an entire geographical area, which somehow leads to lower public awareness. But the thing is they usually don't strike, but when they do, they do it hard.  Statistics shows, in Odisha cyclone kills around 60-70 people per year while lightning takes 250-300 lives. All this within a span of 5 months (may to sep). Now guess which state of India is at the top when it comes to lightning count ? It's none other than the beach side state called Odisha. Madhya Pradesh & Jharkhand takes the no 2 & no 3 spot.  What's more surprising, 96% of death comes from rural areas. They are mostly farmers, labourers & tribal people. The most fundamental causes of death are : 1) Working in Open agricultural fi...
