Are You Staying At Home? Here is 4 Crucial Opportunity COVID-19 Has Offered You

I know, you know, Everybody know…We are fighting a severe health emergency. Let’s call ourselves fighters for that reason. Yeah…we are COVID-19 fighters. And here is the fun part. Unlike other fights, we are fighting this crisis just by staying at home. We are fighting by taking time off from work. We are fighting by not going outside. We are fighting by staying updated about the preventive measures we can take. We are fighting by spreading awareness among family members. We fighting by sharing funny-yet-informative memes on Facebook & WhatsApp status. So undoubtedly, we are giving a tough fight to corona just by staying at home. So cheers to us.

But don’t you think fighting COVID-19 could be altogether a boring experience especially when you spend almost 24 hours at home? Don’t you think after 3/4 days you will be tired of tracking news day long? So here is 4 crucial things you can do for a prolonged period to add some flavor to your day.

1) Relax Yourself A Bit More:
Staying at home. No boss. No meeting. No teacher. No class. No exam (for few). So what can be an ideal situation than this to stay chill & have fun? Of course you can’t plan a trip to your nearby beach to have fun because that would be an invitation for corona. But you have your smartphone & fortunately internet connection is still available. So why not dig through a bunch of  films & TV series you have targeted previously but could not watch due to work load? Why not dive into some trending & hot music? May be you should cook few dishes at home if you love cooking. May be you can read one or two novel if you love reading. How about playing your favorite game online or doing some coding if that’s what you love.

 2) Connect With Your Family A Bit More:
When is the last time you had a heart-to-heart talk with your parents? When is the last time you had a laugh riot with your siblings? For most people this time is beyond 6 month & for some it is a year. So thanks to COVID-19 because you can spend some real time with your parents. You can share your life experiences a little elaborately & you can also ask them what they are going through. This is definitely going to be an intimate conversation which will not only make you joyful but also make your bond even stronger than before. Most importantly, you can have  a cup of coffee-over-corona. You can inspire your family members to take prevention which will also have a doubling effect on your own seriousness about this crisis.

3) Do Self Introspection A Bit More:
We are not superheroes. We are human beings carrying our flaws, imperfections & weaknesses. There are always few things that stops us from excellence in our work field. But here is the important question: Do you exactly know the factors that stops you on your way? Do you exactly know what additional skill you need to develop right now so that when your 15 to 20 day COVID-19 vacation is over you can give yourself a better start in your work field? The whole point of asking these questions is that “You need Self introspection”. You need that key time for yourself to think about your priorities, your past experiences & future decisions you are about to make. And again, thanks to COVID-19 that offered you some quality time at home to build yourself again through some quality introspection.

4) Form Habit One More:
Forming a new habit has never been a stroll in the beach. It takes time. As per expert opinion “It takes 21 days to form a new habit”. And what a coincidence it is that your COVID-19 vacation is around 15 to 20 days. It means you would be a fool to waste these many days without forming a new habit. You can form the habit of taking a balanced diet or you can meditate every morning for 21 days. How about writing daily about your experience or reading 3 pages from an important book. The list goes on & on & on…..

Now I guess you have enough ideas to spend your time without getting bored & having fun. And finally….Good luck for your vacation at home….Stay safe..& Enjoy..

Anxiety : A Constantly Degrading Gen-Z Problem...

Since the beginning of 2012, a time when smartphones entered Indian market in leaps & bounds, something has changed. This is the time when the early Gen-Zs (born between 1996 to 2001) were in their high-school years, mid Gen-Zs (2003 to 2007) were in their primary-school years & lower Gen-Zs (2008 to 2012) were in their Childhood years.  Gone are the times of Nokia, when phones were used for calls, messages, alarm clock & snake games. As time passed phones grew smarter. The design focus shifted from general utility to user experience. Then from user experience to addictive user experience.  Powered by cutting edge chips, high end software designs, AI insertion & rigorous software updates smartphones grew from basic to prime to ultra-prime. While this is a boon for a majority of generations, like the millennials, who have the necessary self control to use them with caution, the younger generations (Gen-Zs & lower) had to confront something totally alien....

People-Killing Lightnings of Odisha

As a coastal state Odisha is blessed with a beach. But it has brought it's fair share of adversities too. It's most commonly known adversary being Cyclones, Lightnings have somehow stayed away from public discussion. Part of the reason is that lightnings don't impact an entire geographical area, which somehow leads to lower public awareness. But the thing is they usually don't strike, but when they do, they do it hard.  Statistics shows, in Odisha cyclone kills around 60-70 people per year while lightning takes 250-300 lives. All this within a span of 5 months (may to sep). Now guess which state of India is at the top when it comes to lightning count ? It's none other than the beach side state called Odisha. Madhya Pradesh & Jharkhand takes the no 2 & no 3 spot.  What's more surprising, 96% of death comes from rural areas. They are mostly farmers, labourers & tribal people. The most fundamental causes of death are : 1) Working in Open agricultural fi...

Sukua : The Boy behind an Innocent Scandal

He was like an animal from a different planet. Very fondly his parents named him "Sukua". He was 15 & was working as a helper at SAHU'S KITCHEN, a 3 star hotel. But you don't know him if you don't know about his beloved. Nothing makes him happier than the smell of his beloved, rum.   Every night, after work, he would keep pushing Sahu Mausa, the hotel owner, for a 100ml bottle of rum & as usual, mausa would come up with his regular response "Shut up ". But what bothers him most is when he catches Sahu Mausa passing a bottle to Bisu (his senior co-worker), every single night. But oneday, he got an idea.  After his job, he reached the hotel bunker & broke the news : " Fire. Fire. Hotel on fire ". Every other staff rushed outside only to discover that it was a prank pulled by Sukua. They returned to the bunker to make it even with Sukua, but he was sitting like a stone. Not a single word. Just a weird look on his face & eyes toward...
