Few Essential Skills Nobody Has Taught Us

It's quite baffling to think how badly we do things that we are not aware of. There are few things we do without which we can't even imagine our life just like sleeping, reading, drinking, eating etc. If I move one step upward there are things like meditating, focusing, communicating, which are a little deeper or psychological sort of things. But the problem is nobody has taught us how to do them in the best way possible. We do them in our own arbitrary ways which yield mostly unproductive outcomes.

It's funny how our parents & teachers insist us to read & get education in schools & colleges, without teaching us about the primary demand of education; which is "LEARNING." Nobody has taught us "How to learn?" or "How to focus ?" while study. So students are struggling to focus even after becoming a graduate.

Talking about health, every parent expect their children to stay healthy all the time without even teaching them the basic art of taking care of one's health. So when they become adults some acquire a giant & fat body shape & some are like threads. There are barely few percentage of people in India who know about what food to eat in morning & what not; how to drink water in best way ; how important it is to do exercise & meditation on a daily basis or how important is reading books for a fulfilling life.

So who is responsible for this personal crisis ? Our parents ? Our teachers ? or the system ? or we personally ?  My answer is that all 4 are responsible up to some extent. Our parents & teachers are responsible because they personally don't have the necessary education & awareness of those few basic skills which act as a pre requisite for mastering the usual advanced level skills.

Our system is responsible for not daring to experiment with a new educational strategy in schools that includes these basic skills that students can learn & master. Finally, we are responsible because despite identifying & understanding their role we have not shown the requisite intent to work on them & to improve them using our all possible gifted technology. We are simply complaining why something's don't work out without finding the root cause that creates the whole damn problem.

Now without indulging much on the things we have missed it would be better to look for a way that can bring us the treasures we have not received yet. In order to fix the problems, we should not waste much time on our teachers & parents while convincing them the down & upside of the situation. It would take a lot time. So it is unwise. So better if we could find a way to change our system.

Starting from primary till matric, there must be a revised curriculum that includes some basic skills & it has to be made mandatory to conduct exams on them so that students don't take them carelessly. Secondly, we, as youth, must shift our focus from achieving high salary jobs to mastering these basic skills that would somehow open up a new frontier for us in future. And of course, a good salary job would also follow us automatically.

The additional benefits of learning those skills  personally is that, after we become parents we too can teach our children about things that we were not blessed to get from our parents. So let's welcome this change to walk our path into a glorious future that make us productive as an individual & fulfilling as a human being.

Anxiety : A Constantly Degrading Gen-Z Problem...

Since the beginning of 2012, a time when smartphones entered Indian market in leaps & bounds, something has changed. This is the time when the early Gen-Zs (born between 1996 to 2001) were in their high-school years, mid Gen-Zs (2003 to 2007) were in their primary-school years & lower Gen-Zs (2008 to 2012) were in their Childhood years.  Gone are the times of Nokia, when phones were used for calls, messages, alarm clock & snake games. As time passed phones grew smarter. The design focus shifted from general utility to user experience. Then from user experience to addictive user experience.  Powered by cutting edge chips, high end software designs, AI insertion & rigorous software updates smartphones grew from basic to prime to ultra-prime. While this is a boon for a majority of generations, like the millennials, who have the necessary self control to use them with caution, the younger generations (Gen-Zs & lower) had to confront something totally alien....

People-Killing Lightnings of Odisha

As a coastal state Odisha is blessed with a beach. But it has brought it's fair share of adversities too. It's most commonly known adversary being Cyclones, Lightnings have somehow stayed away from public discussion. Part of the reason is that lightnings don't impact an entire geographical area, which somehow leads to lower public awareness. But the thing is they usually don't strike, but when they do, they do it hard.  Statistics shows, in Odisha cyclone kills around 60-70 people per year while lightning takes 250-300 lives. All this within a span of 5 months (may to sep). Now guess which state of India is at the top when it comes to lightning count ? It's none other than the beach side state called Odisha. Madhya Pradesh & Jharkhand takes the no 2 & no 3 spot.  What's more surprising, 96% of death comes from rural areas. They are mostly farmers, labourers & tribal people. The most fundamental causes of death are : 1) Working in Open agricultural fi...

Sukua : The Boy behind an Innocent Scandal

He was like an animal from a different planet. Very fondly his parents named him "Sukua". He was 15 & was working as a helper at SAHU'S KITCHEN, a 3 star hotel. But you don't know him if you don't know about his beloved. Nothing makes him happier than the smell of his beloved, rum.   Every night, after work, he would keep pushing Sahu Mausa, the hotel owner, for a 100ml bottle of rum & as usual, mausa would come up with his regular response "Shut up ". But what bothers him most is when he catches Sahu Mausa passing a bottle to Bisu (his senior co-worker), every single night. But oneday, he got an idea.  After his job, he reached the hotel bunker & broke the news : " Fire. Fire. Hotel on fire ". Every other staff rushed outside only to discover that it was a prank pulled by Sukua. They returned to the bunker to make it even with Sukua, but he was sitting like a stone. Not a single word. Just a weird look on his face & eyes toward...
